don't you just love it when you discover a happy little place that you can connect to
the kind
the kind
that makes you feel like you could just stay there
the kind
that you can't wait to go back to
the kind
that you can't wait to go back to
I have a couple of those places that make my heart
GLOW
I'm going to share one of my happy places with you
are you ready for all this!
Fiskars...
yeah like the scissors
yeah like the scissors
those
orange handled scissors!!!
orange handled scissors!!!
did you know they came all the way from
Finland!
HONEST
Fiskars, Finland
go ahead...
go look at your orange scissors...
go look at your orange scissors...
I'll wait
(tehehehehehe)
(tehehehehehe)
I will spare you a lengthy history lesson on scissors
(I heard you go whewwww, it's okay, my feelings are not hurt)
I'll let you just browse around
so the place has scissors
why would that make this a happy place for me?
welllllll....
they have some other stuff going on
the village is just really so very very quaint with their
cobble stones, beautiful old buildings
the river that was the heart of it's history
makes the village just so picturesque
and then there is the thing that makes me smile and do a happy dance
there is the
LITTLE SHOPS
LITTLE SHOPS
my
VERY VERY VERY
favorite kind of shopping
is in the
little artsy shops
ohhhhhhhhhhhh
how I just LOVE those little shops!!!
it's
it's
inside the little shops
I find those special little things that are made from someone's heart
you know what I'm saying
you know what I'm saying
it's
those things that speak to me
that tell me to pick them up and press it to my heart
and
forget where I am at or who is looking
forget where I am at or who is looking
yes
I do that
I have always done that
it's just what I do when something
realllllllly
touches me
realllllllly
touches me
some day a shop owner is going to ask that I please remove their art work from my breast
maybe that will break my art to boob habit
hahahahaha
yeah, probably not!
back to my happy place...
there are
working studios of local artisans
creating
beautiful ceramics, blowing glass, forging iron, making paper
you can shop for
fine jewelry, hand made clothing
traditional handy crafts
furniture, fine art
traditional handy crafts
furniture, fine art
oh
and
scissors
and
scissors
of course there are scissors in lots of colors not just orange and paper punches and garden tools and flatware and a whole lot of other things in the Fiskar store
although when we go to Fiskars I am not so much all about the scissor store
I think you might have picked that up
there really is a lot to see
and
cafes to lunch at along the river
and
sweet benches to rest on and hold hands
and
sweet benches to rest on and hold hands
we had our romantic picnic here under the trees next to the river
we held hands and kissed
we held hands and kissed
it was
a happy little day

Hello Tracie:
ReplyDeleteWhat a delightful and very happy, sunny post with, at the end, just a little touch of romance thrown in for good measure. This looks to be exactly the kind of place we should enjoy - pretty and plenty of interest to keep one amused.
What a cute town. I like the last building too.
ReplyDeleteHey, I didn't know that those Fiskars scissors come from Finland! Just goes to show what little tidbits one learns from visiting blogs. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to visit Finland one day and I think I'll put Fiskars on my list when I do.
Thank you for linking up with Communal Global!
First, I LOVE my Fiskars scissors!! The only kind for me. Second, I love.love.love your tour of this area!! I would so enjoy it, too. Definitely a happy place! Thank you! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like a gorgeous little place. I love places where they have little artisan workshops, so inspiring to see their creations and how they work.
ReplyDeleteAnd I had no idea about Fiskars scissors - you learn something new every day!
Awesome scissors! I also did not know they came from Finland. I can see why this is a happy place, it looks lovely!
ReplyDeleteI will think of you every time I pick up my wonderful orange Fiskars scissors! This post makes my day! Next time I am in Europe...Fiskars it is for me. Wouldn't it be fun if all of us could meet in this little town over a cup of tea? Lovely! =)

I love my fiskar scissors, and what an incredible spot, I know it would make me happy too, not just the artisans but the architecture and the setting, how very lucky you are to have someplace like that to go, and just enjoy. Thanks for bringing it to me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing us this beautiful happy place! It is gorgeous. Your photos are all so pretty. I love little artsy shops... we don't really have those around here. :)
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! Wow thank you all for your support and kindness!!!! I mean really how VERY surprising!
ReplyDeleteFor: Jane & Lance, Thank you for for kindness! Little towns like Fiskars are such FUN! And picnics were made for romance wouldn't you say!
For: Likeschocolate, Thank you for stopping by! I wish I would have taken a picture of the slag brick close up the texture is squishy and the color is almost opalescent... gives me an excuse to go back again, maybe in the Fall... yes, definitely in the Fall!
For Buckeroomama: Oh gosh thank you for taking the time to stop by! This little country has some wonderful and surprising gems I look forward to sharing more of them!
For Tanna: Thank you as always for your kind words! It is a happy place for sure! It's about 1.5 hours from home or I would be visiting more, that is for sure!
For Becs: Thank you dear for popping over! I come back from those trips energized and wanting to try new things, like glass blowing! HAAHAha... no but really... maybe 1 time!
For Em: Thank you for visiting! How sweet!
For Tessa: Thank you so much for your visit and kind words! How very sweet of you! Wouldn't a meet up be the BEST! That would sure be a super fun day!!!
For La Principessa Errante: Hi thank you for stopping by and your comment! I have another village that is close by we like to go to with some great colors and European architecture. The shopping is sweet, but it doesn't have the same local artisan charm of Fiskars. I'll be sharing that little happy place I'm sure!
For Jennifer: HI! Oh gosh thank you for your sweetness! I have a new camera I'm getting to know, hoping to figure it out soon. The instructions are in every language except English! Grrrr!
Yep, I know what you mean. There was this fabulous little shop in my little home town that had style with a capital S and you could hear Diana Krall music drifting out of the door and these wonderful vignettes here and there and wonderful handmade soaps and lotions......Oh yeah that was your shop ;) I do miss it though.
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea! HAHAHA! You are so very sweet!!! That REALLLLLLY made me smile!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I still love that Diana Krall! So much of the music I played in the shop sends me right back in time in an instant! I will always be proud that I was a part of that B.C. downtown shopping history! It was really an experience!
I hope you are having a great Summer and keeping cool!
